President's Message

Welcome to the website of the Orange County (CA) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated (OCAC-CA). I’m excited to share that our chapter members are recognized as “trained to serve,” and we strategize and plan our sisterhood and community service with a Storm of Excitement!  Our members are college graduates, representing all facets of professional life. The strength of the chapter lies within the diversity, education, experiences, and expertise of its members. Currently, OCAC-CA has over 60 active members.

In its many years serving Orange County, OCAC-CA has provided over a quarter of a million dollars in scholarship awards to deserving students, in addition to providing a myriad of exciting youth-focused programs. We have sponsored a "Success for Teens" program as part of our youth initiative which received a 1st Place award in “Exemplary Program Planning and Development” for youth programs. In addition, the program was featured in an issue of Success Magazine. Recently the youth programs expanded to include a component for middle school students with a curriculum aligned to the national Junior Achievement Program.

OCAC-CA continues to strive to broaden its scope and impact by developing ongoing partnerships with local and national non-profits and charities for programs that enrich the community. Such activities have included sponsoring a town hall meeting on the Affordable Care Act (ACA), and sponsoring an all-day seminar, “Delta Days in Orange County,” featuring community leaders from throughout Orange County. We have partnered with other organizations, including local churches, to sponsor free community health fairs. In addition, we are active members in the Orange County Pan-Hellenic Council, have participated in the annual  “Great American Write In,” and have been a sponsoring organization of the Orange County Black History Parade and Cultural Fair. OCAC-CA was a recipient of a “Star Award” from the National Council of Negro Women-Orange County Section.

The community service provided by OCAC-CA members is driven by the national Five-Point Programmatic Thrusts of the Grand Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. For more information about the organization, visit the following website: www.deltasigmatheta.org

Please come back to our website periodically to see highlights of the many activities and events taking place throughout the year.  The members of OCAC-CA are proud how we serve our community and refer to ourselves as the “Pearls of Orange County,” as reflected in our beautiful logo.
